Design & artwork guidelines

For the best spot UV results, please set up your artwork carefully:

  • Size: 85mm x 55mm (standard UK business card size)
  • Add a 3mm bleed on all sides (final artwork size: 91mm x 61mm)
  • Keep text and logos at least 5mm from the trim line
  • File formats: PDF (preferred), AI, or InDesign
  • Resolution: 300dpi at final size
  • Colour mode: CMYK
  • Supply a separate spot UV layer, set to 100% black where the gloss effect is required
  • Avoid fine details under 0.5pt lines or very small text, as these may not reproduce cleanly

When you place your order, simply upload your artwork file. As part of our service, we’ll carry out a free preflight check on every file before it goes to print. This means we’ll review:

  • File size and dimensions
  • Resolution (DPI)
  • Colour mode (CMYK vs RGB)
  • Bleed and safe margins
  • Font and image embedding
  • Provide a PDF proof
